Scholarships for Clinical Placement in a Hospital Emergency Department now open

The scheme is an Australian Government initiative seeking to support nurses and nursing students undertaking a clinical placement within a hospital emergency department.

ED: CP applications are now open. At the end of each month, commencing at the end of April applications received will be assessed and applicants notified of the result.

To be eligible to apply you must be:
  • An Australian citizen or a permanent resident
And meet one of the one of the following criteria  :
  • Enrolled in an accredited postgraduate nursing course that results in a nationally recognised qualification in emergency or critical care nursing
  • Enrolled an accredited Australian entry level nursing course
  • A registered nurse or midwife whose current area of professional practice is not emergency nursing who wants to experience emergency nursing to improve their work skills
  • A registered nurse or midwife whose current area of professional practice is emergency nursing who wants to experience emergency nursing in a larger facility or more specialist emergency nursing.

The maximum total value of the Scholarship is $23,000.

Payments may be made for:

  • Travel 
  • Accommodation and living expenses if a scholar is required to relocate from home to complete the placement 
  • Loss of income, not available for undergraduate students 
  • Supervision payment to the hosting hospital.
