Disaster preparedness researchers seeking study participants

Cyclone Ita
North Queensland residents are being asked to share with researchers the ways they prepared for the 2013-2014 cyclone season to better inform emergency planning and management in the future.

James Cook University, School of Nursing, Midwifery and Nutrition is conducting a research study in disaster preparedness and is seeking study participants from the coastal areas between Cairns and Townsville.

The purpose of the 'Community Disaster Preparedness’ research project is to find out what preparation activities residents of Queensland coastal areas between Cairns and Townsville took prior to and during the 2013-2014 cyclone season.

Finding out the level of preparedness in the community during the 2013-2014 cyclone season can better inform future emergency and disaster response planning and management.
