To be eligible to apply for a postgraduate scholarship applicants must:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
- be a registered nurse with current registration
- be directly employed in and by an Australian Government funded approved provider of: residential aged care service; comunity aged care service; multipurpose service; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flexible service.
- deliver some direct care
- be intending to undertake postgraduate studies relating to the care of older people including but not limited to: clinical gerontology, behavioural management, dementia care, wound care, continence care, palliative care and infection control. Leadership and management courses are also considered eligible.

Aged Care Nursing Scholarships: Undergraduate now open
Aged Care Nursing Scholarships: Undergraduate is an Australian Government initiative supporting student nurses who show a demonstrated commitment to aged care to undertake undergraduate studies at an Australian tertiary institute leading to a qualification to practice as a registered nurse.
The scheme provides financial assistance in the form of a scholarship worth up to a total of $10,000 per year for three years full time study ($30,000 in total), or $5,000 per year for up to six years part time study.
Applications for Aged Care Nursing Scholarships: Undergraduate are open and will close 31 August 2012 at 12am EST.

2012 HISA Mobile Health App University Challenge
In 2012 it is no secret that application software, also known as applications or more commonly "apps,” have become embedded into our everyday environment. Designed to help users perform specific tasks, HISA recognises the potential of mobile applications to assist and improve health and the healthcare of consumers.
Participants are required to design and present an idea for an innovative e-health related mobile application that facilitates and improves the way individuals experience or receive healthcare. Areas may include, but are not limited to: Services provided by healthcare professionals at the point of care; Health literacy, self-management and decision-support skills for consumers; Ageing independently at home. The target users for the app can be clinicians, patients or consumers. The application must be developed for a smartphone, tablet or any other mobile device.
The HISA Mobile Health App Challenge is open to any active student registered (full or part time) with an accredited university or TAFE in Australia.

The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet is undertaking a survey to find out information on users accessing the HealthInfoNet yarning places. There are 14 yarning places, dedicated to different Indigenous health topics. The yarning places are electronic networks that allow people working, studying or interested in various Indigenous health issues to share information, knowledge and experience. The survey aims to gain an insight into how the yarning place and their functions are used, and whether there could be improvements made.
